I have xlibs 4.1.0-16woody1 installed on my system. When I start ethereal, which links with libXft, I get the following error: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ethereal ethereal: relocation error: /usr/lib/libXft.so.2: undefined symbol: XRenderQuerySubpixelOrder Web searching tells me I probably need xlibs 4.3 to solve this problem.
