Package: xserver-common Version: 4.1.0-16woody1 Severity: normal Recently I installed KDE 3.2 (woody packages from kde.org). It quickly occured, that leaving the computer with screensaver running for longer time leads to X server crashes, mentioned in kdm.log in the following way: Fatal server error: Caught signal 11. Server aborting
After some investigation I found the note, that since KDE 3.2, kde screensaver uses DPMS mode. It seems that while entering one of DPMS modes, the X server crashes. I use Matrox Millenium II (MGA 2164W) videocard (with X driver mga) and the Philips Brilliance 180P2 flat monitor. Apart from setting Option "DPMS" I did not configure any dpms options. I will just disable DPMS support as workaround so this bug is not critical, but it requires some examination. In case I can do something to help, please let me know which kind of test or information would be useful. -- System Information Debian Release: 3.0 Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux cauchy 2.4.20-ck2 #1 czw sty 2 17:06:45 CET 2003 i686 Locale: LANG=pl_PL, LC_CTYPE=pl_PL Versions of packages xserver-common depends on: ii debconf 1.0.32 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.2.5-11.5 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii xfree86-common 4.1.0-16woody1 X Window System (XFree86) infrastr
