Package: xlibs Version: 4.3.0.dfsg.1-4 Severity: important Hello, I've just made a fresh sarge installation (without tasksel) and ended up without xkbd data because xlibs is not depended on by any package (including x-window-system-core). This results in a rather broken keyboard if you are not using a generic 101-key US-keyboard, e.g. me with de-keyborad was unable to enter | or @ because almost all modifiers do not work.
A couple of thoughts: * Imho xserver-xfree86 should depend on xkbd-data. * Why do I need to install libraries that I do not want to install like libxft1 when I just want a working keyboard? I.e. isn't it a quite bad idea to put real, unrelated data in the meta package xlibs? I am submitting this against xlibs because that is where the xbd bugs currently end up, instead of against the source package xfree86. cu andreas -- Package-specific info: Keyboard-related contents of XFree86 X server log file /var/log/XFree86.0.log: (==) Using config file: "/etc/X11/XF86Config-4" (==) ServerLayout "Default Layout" (**) |-->Screen "Default Screen" (0) (**) | |-->Monitor "Generic Monitor" (**) | |-->Device "NVIDIA Corporation NV5M64 [RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro]" (**) |-->Input Device "Generic Keyboard" (**) Option "XkbRules" "xfree86" (**) XKB: rules: "xfree86" (**) Option "XkbModel" "pc105" (**) XKB: model: "pc105" (**) Option "XkbLayout" "de" (**) XKB: layout: "de" (**) Option "XkbVariant" "nodeadkeys" (**) XKB: variant: "nodeadkeys" (**) Option "XkbOptions" "altwin:meta_win" (**) XKB: options: "altwin:meta_win" (==) Keyboard: CustomKeycode disabled (**) |-->Input Device "Configured Mouse" (**) |-->Input Device "Generic Mouse" (WW) The directory "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/cyrillic" does not exist.
