Hi,
As you know, when you have GNOME installed, you will always get
x-session-manager started before any x-window-manager (by default).
Sometimes you don't want that behaviour.
I propose creating x-no-session-manager that is symbolic link to
x-window-manager. This way user has choice for pure window manager when
something like GNOME is installed.
Regards

Hi,
Let me close this since alternative is not main way to select SM/WM
thesedays. (GDM, KDM, WDM)
For XDM, we can use ~/.xsession anyway.
Now all DM use /etc/X11/Xsession.d/* files so inconsistent boot up
issues are gone.
Cheers,
Osamu
