Hello, I had the same problem !!!

In my case I use the french layout:

Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier      "Generic Keyboard"
        Driver          "keyboard"
        Option          "CoreKeyboard"
        Option          "XkbRules"      "xorg"
        Option          "XkbModel"      "pc105"
        Option          "XkbLayout"     "fr"
        Option          "XkbVariant"    "fr"
EndSection

When I comment out the "XkbVariant" line, it works fine.
