Hi everyone, The X Strike Force is preparing packages for the upcoming 6.9 release, and we need your help to do it. The xorg-x11 build system has much stricter controls on it than other packages, which is why I'm writing this mail.
We basically need people with ready access to various arches to build the package for us and then send us the build log. The build will fail, but at the end of the build log there will be a diff containing the files that have been added or removed from your arch since the Xorg 6.8 release. We can then use this diff to update all the debhelper files so that things get installed properly for your arch. Here's how to build the thing: You'll need the render-dev package from experimental and you'll have to build the xrender package in experimental for your arch and install it. Both are required to build xorg-x11. Aside from that, the build-depends for xorg-x11 in unstable and testing right now will suffice to build the 6.9 packages. You can pull the most up to date sources for the package like so: svn export svn://necrotic.deadbeast.net/xorg-x11/branches/6.9 xorg-x11-6.8.99.900.dfsg.1 If you check out the sources rather than export them, you have to remove the .svn metadata (a simple "find . -name '.svn' | xargs rm -rf" will do) if you want to potentially produce packages. The metadata creates some noise in the diff too, so removing it is helpful for us. Once you build it, either post the log somewhere or send the diff at the end (it'll be a diff of MANIFEST files) to debian-x. I've set the m-f-t to debian-x, so you can just reply to this mail if it suits you. Thanks to everyone for helping get Xorg 6.9 in to Debian in a timely manner! - David Nusinow -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
