OK. Well, in case the template is re-added, I suggest pinging me or
grabbed the "old" translations from the PO files in the 6.9 branch:
(laughing at my shellscripting is forbidden. I know it sucks and is
full of bashisms)
cd debian/po
mkdir NEW

if [ -f ../../6.9/debian/po/$i ] ; then
msgcat --use-first $i ../../6.9/debian/po/$i >NEW/$i
mv NEW/$i $i

rmdir NEW
Then change the templates (copying the old ZAM template from the 6.9
branch) and run debconf-updatepo.
Then check one formerly complete file:
msgfmt -o /dev/null -c fr.po
...should not output anything but translated strings
