I don't think it should be terribly onerous, since I think the 7.1-specific changes are relatively small. I'm proposing to simply reapply them to trunk one-by-one: change the dependency from xserver-xorg-video to xserver-xorg-video-1.0, tidy up the manpages again, and that's pretty much it.
