Hi everyone, With the upload of compiz to unstable, I'm instituting a feature freeze across the X packages. The new savage driver can go in, and I'll consider a new ati release if upstream decides to do one, but our current package set is frozen as is. That means we're shifting in to serious bugfixing mode, and there's a raft of bugs to be fixed, particularly in the mess that is the debconfage. Bugfixes pulled from upstream, Ubuntu, or any other derivatives (if there are any that provide patches, I'd love to hear about it!) are encouraged, and it's open season on all bugs.
Quick uploads to fix bugs are encouraged as well. I'd rather upload ten versions of a package in a day to fix ten bugs than have those ten bugs sit around waiting for someone to do the upload. Wishlist bugs are generally to be avoided until etch releases, although if they apply to documentation don't hesitate to work on them if you want. If someone wants to work on 7.2 now (I won't have time) feel free to create an experimental branch and get hacking. You can upload 7.2 to Debian experimental freely as well. Experimental, as far as I'm concerned, is still totally open for anyone interested in using it. Unstable though, remains feature-frozen. Since the release team will be freezing etch for us in about two weeks or so, I'll do my best to act as the main point of contact for getting packages in to etch post-freeze. Please point things out that I may have forgotten or misprioritized. If there's something I missed (it's really late and I'm exhausted) please don't hesitate to ask. We're set to deliver a huge improvement over the X packages in sarge, and I want to take the remainder of this release cycle to put us over the top in terms of making this a quality release that we can all be immensely proud of. - David Nusinow -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
