The problem arose in the beginning of 2007 (I think). Icon in toolbar
doesn't show selected keyboard layout, but says "err". When called from

Bug was: Directory /var/lib/xkb was missing. After creating it, everything
worked fine.
Error message has been found in /var/log/kdm.log
