Sorry for the delay, gmail thought your mail was spam :P The patch worked in the sense that when I lower the lid, the xserver keeps running. It even turns off the monitor backlight. However, the backlight is not turned back on when I raise the lid again. I'm not sure this fits in this bug anymore though, so I'm thinking about opening a new bug with the backlight issues (there are two of them), unless you think this bug fits.
