After upgrading from etch, the new X server displays the xdm login screen in extremely tiny fonts, despite an apparently correct font setting in /etc/X11/xdm/Xresources (fonts checked with xfontsel). It turns out that the new X server requires a call parameter setting the screen resolution: Change :0 local /usr/bin/X :0 vt7 -nolisten tcp into :0 local /usr/bin/X :0 vt7 -dpi 100 -nolisten tcp The same fix is required for the xserver startup arguments in the xinit package (separately filed).
