I also seem to be hit by this bug. I have a PC Chips MB with the SiS
760GX/964 chipset and an Athlon XP 2800+ CPU. Everything was working
fine under Etch, but then I upgraded to Lenny and things are not so
fine. I can start X, but if I try to exit, or switch to another VT then
the server aborts with the error:
Caught signal 11. Server aborting
The other error that always pops up is:
Emulator asked to make a suspect byte access to port 4 (0x0004);
terminating.
Since I usually have X running in three separate VTs one each for
myself, my wife and my daughter, not being able to switch between them
is quite inconvenient.
The last post that I see concerning this was back in August, 2008. Is
there any chance that this can be corrected in time to get into Lenny
before it is released.
If there is any information which I can supply to help this along,
please let me know.
