For configuration tool (e.g. gsynaptics), it is necessary to set the option SHMConfig to true. It is possible, to enable this option manually in xorg.conf with the following configuration: Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Synaptics Touchpad" Driver "synaptics" Option "SHMConfig" "true" EndSection But i think, it is better to set this option to true by default to work with the configuration tool.
