I tried booting into single user mode

        # modprobe i915 modeset=1 # This made my tty use a framebuffer
        # logout

The result was the same: Blank screen, Ctrl-Alt-F1 doesn't work, not
even Caps-Lock.

(I think it's the same, but I didn't check.)

But I noticed:

        # grep EE /var/log/Xorg.0.log
(WW) warning, (EE) error, (NI) not implemented, (??) unknown.
        (II) Loading extension MIT-SCREEN-SAVER
(EE) intel(0): Failed to set tiling on front buffer: rejected by kernel

Is that a problem?

Best regards
Uwe
