Using oolite (svn r1928 from svn://svn.berlios.de/oolite-linux/trunk, with
r1890 backed out locally). Graphics hardware is a Radeon X300; kernel is
2.6.27.10 (amd64).

I'm seeing lots of "implementation error" messages while flying, and the
frame rate is (presumably consequently) reduced to about 1/3 of what it was
with 7.2 (which works fine here).

Except for a sequence number, they're all identical:
