I've got the same problem and get only a black screen, if I start the xserver. The error in the log is similar. Unfortunately I hadn't kept the old packages, so I couldn't recover them. All attempts to install older packages from lenny didn't work. I have no xserver since more than 10 days and I'm very depressed. In my opinion this bug is critical.
