Thanks for your acknowledgement. I guess I could have better summed it up as "conflicts are not a debtags problem -- we already do conflict management elsewhere, so let's not reinvent the wheel". In practical terms, this means a debtags-tasksel must interface to existing package management tools so that existing conflict resolution code can be invoked when those conflicts occur. My other ideas about making conflict resolution smarter, if they have merit, should go into those tools, not into debtags-tasksel itself.
