Hello,
I am newbie on linux and have a problem with
my ethernet connection.
I installed Mandrake 7.2
and it detect correctly my ethernet PCMCIA card connected to a cable operator
and installed dhcpcd with pcnet_cs as driver.
I received no error message during
boot.
When I enter 'ifconfig' I received
parameters for lo and eth0 with correct IP address.
If I try a ping I received after several
seconds (sometimes up to the minute), answer like
connecting 'correct IP address'
40ms, 30 packets send, 1 received 94% packets lost, sometimes even 100%
packets loss.
The same connection works fine in Windows so
it is not a hardware problem
It seems that I am connected and that the
connection my computer-> ISP is working but that ISP ->computer replies
one request on 100 or something like that.
Any idea were I have to look to correct it
(PCMCIA problem, network config, server parameters,...)
It will surely helps just to know
what is causing the problem!
Looking throgh the logs the only 'strange'
thing (at least that I saw <G>) is at the configuration of PCMCIA
card
Starting card manager
Loading module for sound card (ESS)
:ethernet 10/100T OK
Is this a hint of conflict between my sound
card (ess maestro) and my ethernet card??
Thank you for any help you can
provided
