Have both providers announce using BGP. That way a single IP on the mail
server will have path redundancy and switch automatically to the provider
that is still up. At least one way redundancy.

Craig.

We have 2 different sat provider (one way), each gave us a c class.
depending on which source ip we use, the return path will be via one
provider or the other

We have 2 ips assigned to our mail server, one on each network
each one with different MX priority.
if one sat link is down, the email or the query will arrive on the other
link.

i am not sure RIP will solve this poblem, but i am sure it will be years
before the providers will route their competitors adresses thru their links
but again, I am far from being an expert on RIP or BGP, so who knows. :)
