i have loglevel set to high and do not see the "(2 scanners)" line john posted, why ?

That's because that is a debug log file entry. The debug mode places a *lot* of log file entries for each E-mail (10 to 100 times the standard logging). Between the volume of entries, and the fact that they aren't designed to be interpreted by end users (some of them can be misleading, and seem to indicate problems that aren't there), it is usually best to use the debug mode only when we request it. It's kind of like products that say "No user serviceable parts inside." But the curious and power users are more than welcome to try it. :)
