John, I think that you might be starting with the assumption that renaming the file is what is causing the code 8, but that might be a bad assumption. If you resend the same file with the normal extension, it should still get a code 8 if this is the case. This should be easy to test on your system. If it still throws the code 8 then you can decide whether or not to rethink using that code to block on because you probably won't otherwise be able to fix the problem. I do agree that there is a possibility that F-Prot is throwing a code 8 as a result of the combination of the file itself as well as the renamed extension, though this appears to not be globally the case based on Andrew's tests that he shared.
