I just thought worth it to report this to the list. I installed bitdefender free version last week as a second scanner. It has been a nightmare. It consumes too much CPU. Once I activated it as a second scanner, CPU went up to 100%, until my box just stop delivering and receiving messages. It was even hard to open a folder or browse through the system.
Looking at the taskmanager every bitdefender process consumes between 20 to 30%. With 2 or 3 active processes CPU goes up to 100%. My box manages 20 to 25K messages daily. Not a big volume. F-prot hardly appears in the process list, and doesn't consume CPU at all. But bitdefender is a big CPU consumer. Once I deactivate it, it takes a minute or so to see how CPU consumption goes back to 15% or 20% maximum. My Conclusion. Bitdefender is not the way to go as a second scanner. I am looking for another one.
