Chris inspired me. When you hit ctrl-C now it stops, like a good little program, if you 'fg' it then it returns to normal. If you 'bg' it then it moves to a special silent-download only mode (-qqd) that remains until it is 'fg'd again or it finishes.
This allows you to start it up, look at the ETA, size values and whatnot then background it and continue on your way. For those of us who have enough windows/consoles already and don't need more :> You should be able to fg/bg/ctrl-z it as many times as you like. Once fg'd it will run dpkg but when in the background it should not attempt to run dpkg. Jason -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
