Well at least turned out what the last error of mine was: apt forks the
ftp in the back and when stopped (error or ctrl-c) it does not stop the
background process. If I don't explicitly kill -9 them the update never
works anymore. 


Something else. After upgrading from bo to hamm using apt (after autoup)
of course a big heap of essentials, importants and stuff were upgraded.
When the upgrade was finished (there was some errors because some package
but it does not matter I think) I realised that no real users can do
anything on the system. Was easy to find out why: someone did a 
"chmod 744 /" on the system. Maybe apt is the one to blame, maybe not, but
to make it sure I tell you. :) You may discard me. :))
