I found the cause of the problem: I put the whole distribution paths into /etc/apt/sources.list, ie dists/hamm/main dists/hamm/contrib a.s.o. instead of main contrib ... Now it works pretty well. So this seems to be a problem with the config file parser, but I'm not sure if this is an apt bug or a problem of not RTFM'ing.
