hello, i am fairly new to debian and even more to apt.... i encountered already problems with dpkg/dselect that didn't want to install certain packages (gmp2... very annoying...)
now i installed through .deb apt-0.1.6, went through the readme, made apt-get update apt-get upgrade and the whole thing hangs now at : yoda:/var/cache/apt/archives# apt-get upgrade Updating package status cache...done Checking system integrity...ok The following packages have been kept back aalib1 php3-pgsql aalib-bin xv imlib1 apache whiptail doc++ omniorb fortify moonlight libhdf4g octave pdmenu wmaker ddd php3 xosview kbd doc-linux-text menu rpm 253 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 22 not upgraded. 7 packages not fully installed or removed. Need to get 666k/116M of archives. After unpacking 22.3M will be used. Do you want to continue? BTW is the graphical frond end delivered with the distribution?if so how it is called? And since i am here... to upgrade to slink, i suppose i have to add in the conf file a line with the reference of a mirror. Do i have to do an upgrade after that (apt-get -f dist-upgrade), or does it be enough to install all packages from there? ~ ~ ciao bboett ============================================================== acount at earthling net http://erm6.u-strasbg.fr/~bboett =============================================================== Unsolicited commercial email is NOT welcome at this email address To contact me replace acount by bboett in above addresses
