'may' -> 'is not' It is fundamentally impossible for APT, let alone any users space program to crash a properly designed OS (for example, Linux) The fact that your systems are crashing in a permanent way indicates a fundamental problem either with the OS or your hardware. I suggest you talk to the kernel people, or maybe ask if you don't have a particularly buggy kernel version, or something like that. In fact the kernel people will probably tell you to replace your hardware/recompile/upgrade/whatever so you might want to try stuff like that first. Jason
