Oh, thats insane then. There is certainly something very wrong with your box - and I am thinking right now that APT is not the primary reason for your problems. Can you make sure you have the right C libraries, the right C++ libraries and that you don't have a bad disk, corrupted list file or something else like that? Try rm /var/cache/apt/*.bin /var/state/apt/lists/* and re-run update and see if it goes away. Jason
