Package: apt Version: 0.1.9 While attempting to upgrade to potato from slink, I invoked apt-get update and apt-get upgrade after updating my /etc/apt/sources.list. The sources-list is as follows:
deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian unstable main contrib non-free deb http://non-us.debian.org/debian-non-US unstable/non-US main contrib non-free deb http://www.debian.org/~ljlane/downloads enlightenment-cvs/ deb-src http://http.us.debian.org/debian unstable main contrib non-free deb-src http://non-us.debian.org/debian-non-US unstable/non-US main contrib non-free The apt-get update gives me the error: [EMAIL PROTECTED] apt]# apt-get update E: Attempt to fetch the same file twice http://http.us.debian.org/debian/dists/unstable/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz I attempted to change the URL from http.us.debian.org to www.us.debian.org and received the same error from the non-us.debian.org URL. Needless to say, since the apt-get update step fails the apt-get upgrade step also fails. The specific errors are: Updating package status cache...E: Can't open /var/cache/apt/srcpkgcache.bin - open (2 No such file or directory) E: The previous errors apply to a Package Cache File /var/cache/apt/srcpkgcache.bin E: You should probably re-run apt-get update Please note that this is a standard 2.1r3 machine, the hardware is a 486DX33 with 8MB of ram. Please feel free to email me if you require more information. Thanks, --Brad ============================================================================ Bradley M.
