Package: apt Version: potato Note: apt-get is currently 0.3.16 on my system, but I have done an update since initial install.
The sequence leading to the problem was Install from boot-floppies during install, modify sources.list by adding some file links and running apt-cdrom, uncommenting source files the task selector (?) offers an empty menu of choices I proceed to dselect, using apt acquisition I leave the selections untouched (it was a minimal set; I'm not sure where it came from) Do an install. Either here, or a later apt-get, apt says it needs to download n files, m megabytes. It shows a progress meter, which proceeds to 99% and then disappears. Files keep download for quite awhile (and number of files) thereafter. Note: my files and CD-ROM's are both selections of downloaded .deb's, either missing the normal Packages information or having Packages which are at different dates and include .debs not on the media or file system.
