I've fixed the problem, but it is possible that one of the /var/lib/dpkg/status.yesterday files may contain the problem database. I'll bring them in on floppy tomorrow. Is it OK to mail them to you - they are about 100K each compressed (I won't mail them to the BTS). If not, I can probably put them up for ftp somewhere. Chris
