Package: apt Version: 0.3.19 Severity: normal OK, I know it was dumb, but I accidentally hit '_' in dselect when I was on the "Installed Packages" line.
APT was smart enough to tell me that various essential packages were going to be removed, but it omitted mention of itself! I fixed the problem with essential packages and managed to remove APT itself at which point things became less straightforward to fix. Could APT be an essential package too?
