Package: apt Version: 0.5.3 Hi folks,
I have tried Squid and Apache as a cache for apt-get. But for http.us.debian.org caching of the *.debs and the Package files works just by chance. Some files are still downloaded, even though they should be in the cache due to the previous upgrade of an identical PC just a few minutes ago. A clear indication for this are the download times: Uncached files are downloaded with 45 KByte/sec, cached files reach more than 1 MByte/sec. When I replace 'http.us.debian.org' in sources.list by one of its IP addresses (the same on all my clients, of course), then caching works as expected. Regards Harri
