Package: apt
Version: 0.5.3
Severity: normal
If there is a syntax or other error in the preferences file apt
silently ignores it, which makes it extremely hard to debug
problems.

If you make it a warning apt won't break when you downgrade it, but
people will still notice they made a mistake. Magicaly breaking is
*not* good.
