Package: apt Version: 0.3.19 Severity: wishlist I wish to run apt-get dist-upgrade in a cron job, to keep my system up to date. I wish to be notified (say - by email) whenever an update took place. I was using "apt-get dist-upgrade -q -q -u", until I realized that I am not notified.
I think that the -u option, when given with the -q option, should output the list of packages updated, if any, but not output anything if no update took place. -- System Information Debian Release: 2.2 Kernel Version: Linux max 2.2.19 #1 Fri Jul 6 20:44:06 IDT 2001 i686 unknown Versions of the packages apt depends on: ii libc6 2.1.3-18 GNU C Library: Shared libraries and Timezone ii libstdc++2.10 2.95.2-13 The GNU stdc++ library
