apt-get drops undefined tags in /etc/apt/preferences as rightfully explained by Jason Gunthorpe in counter to the bug report by Wichert Akkerman. It is still an open bug after 100 days.
I wish this situation to be resolved by introducing something like "--debug" or "--verbose" options to apt-get and related APT tools. Currently -q and -qq exist to control verboseness of the program but there seems to be no easy way for user to select overly verbose messaging state. This shall not be a big patch and shall be quite useful feature to address not only issues like this but also to address any other non-faital irregularities APT may face. Thanks for your consideration. +++-==============-==============-============================================ ii apt 0.5.4 Advanced front-end for dpkg -- ~\^o^/~~~ ~\^.^/~~~ ~\^*^/~~~ ~\^_^/~~~ ~\^+^/~~~ ~\^:^/~~~ ~\^v^/~~~ + Osamu Aoki <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, GnuPG-key: 1024D/D5DE453D +
