Hmm, wasn't this a bug in boot-floppies/debootstrap because busybox
was built without gzip or wc (or whatever) support which caused the
release file test to fail?
The message in the bug report is a typical debootstrap error:
functions: error 1 "Malformed release file $m1/dists/$SUITE/Release"
