Package: apt Version: 0.5.4 Severity: minor I couldn't tell what apt-cache add does or what its arguments should be from the man page. The command summary gives its arguments as "file ..." while the description refers to the names package index files.
Does this mean the file argument should be an index file? or that it is generated from the list of files given? If I had an intimate knowledge of apt this would probably be clear, but it would be nice if it were clear without it. FYI this came up because I had downloaded a bunch of debs and wanted to make them known to apt. I was wondering how to do this, e.g. apt-cache add some.deb. I ended up just doing dpkg -i.
