Package: apt Version: 0.5.4 Severity: wishlist It would be nice if apt had an option that limited how much bandwidth it would use for downloads, to make it play more nicely with other processes or people using the same link.
I realize this could be handled e.g. through a proxy, the kernel, or some other means, but it's relatively simple to do in the networking program and would be generally useful. This is implemented in rsync as the --bwlimit option; basically it just sleeps after each read from the network if necessary. -- System Information Debian Release: 3.0 Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux anomic 2.4.18 #55 Mon Apr 29 12:28:16 WST 2002 i686 Locale: LANG=en_AU, LC_CTYPE= Versions of packages apt depends on: ii libc6 2.2.5-5 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2 1:2.95.4-8 The GNU stdc++ library -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
