No, I am purposely not being as perfect as I could be in order to simulate a large class of average users. When you toy with words like "updates" many average users might get a different idea. I vote for more idiot-proofing of the man pages vs. keeping the image that GNU/Linux is for experts only. I mean look at gmane.emacs.bugs on gmane.org: this is the style of bug reporting i've used for years and RMS fixes one or two a week with no complaints...
