should show where the package can be fetched from.
(especially handy to check if a package is in debian itself, or comes
from some inofficial/private/local/whatever repository like marillat's ;)

apt-cache show only dumps the information from the Packages file; it is very
simplistic. However, the apt-cache policy command does what you want, so
there is an easy way to get this information.
