Well, since this CD is an official 3.0r0 one, I think this ought to be
supported.  At least some understandable error message would be much
better.

For the next machine I can remove the cdrom source (we have a local
mirror here so it's not _that_ bad in _our_ case), but well, that
somewhat defeats the purpose of having packages on the CD, which is,
well, IMHO annoying enough to look at this closer.
