Package: apt Version: 0.5.4 Followup-For: Bug #59723 This is getting more and more annoying now that there are many third-party apt sources around besides the official Debian archives. I have about 25 different servers in my sources.list, and invariably at least one of them is down each time I apt-get update, causing the whole session to take 10 minutes or more as each connection times out individually. Very frustrating!
Ideally, the timeout threshold should be shorter and apt should not try to fetch other package lists from a server that it just timed out on. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux dbz 2.4.21 #1 Fri Jun 13 14:49:38 CDT 2003 i686 Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US Versions of packages apt depends on: ii libc6 2.3.1-16 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2 1:2.95.4-17 The GNU stdc++ library -- no debconf information
