Subject: apt: simple solution to get rid of that painful MMap-out-of-room
problem

Severity: grave

   Dear APT-Maintainers,
I also got that MMap out of room problem after adding a lot of sources
to sources.list.
<snip>
Reading Package Lists... Error!
E: Dynamic MMap ran out of room
E: Error occured while processing xfsprogs (NewVersion1)
E: Problem with MergeList
/var/lib/apt/lists/ftp.fu-berlin.de_pub_unix_linux_mirrors_debian_dists_unstable_main_binary-i386_Packages
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
</snip>
Same output in apt-get after fetching lists and apt-cache.
A possible solution (works for me) is hidden in bug #172726
http://bugs.debian.org/172726

My apt.conf shows it in the first of the two lines:
APT
{
  Cache-Limit=104857600;
  Default-Release "stable";
};

A look into your buglist shows that other users are affected of the
MMap problem, too (166306, 175887 ff).
