If you think you have the slightest chance of convincing the glibc folks to do anything about it, yes. We (the OpenSSH maintainers) tried over a period of many months and were consistently rebuffed with bogus statements such as "apache and bind don't have a problem with it" (of course, when I looked into those I found that neither of those actually use the buggy library function). Their position now seems to boil down to "we don't care about IPv6 on 2.2". > Or is it truly closed, and this bug should be closed as well? No. Eventually, OpenSSH upstream heard about the problem and implemented a hacky workaround, so ssh no longer suffers from the bug. However, the problem has still not been fixed in glibc.
