It seems to me that there's something you don't like in this ~ stuff, but I can't see what it is... I do like it anyway :-)) <utopia> IMHO in an ideal world this tilde-stuff would be widely accepted by developers, implemented in glibc's strverscmp(), used by rpm, used by all distros and all software developers to denote pre-versions...
