Hmm, this text must have been removed when that page was rewritten. It used to say: Some sources, such as project/experimental are marked Not Automatic - these fall to the bottom of the selection pile. In other words, packages from experimental will never be automatically preferred. This is a feature. The bug is that the documentation for it was removed. The new man page is also problematic in other ways, and I think it needs another overhaul. -- - mdz
