APT seems to be ignoring the configured port for the http proxy when used
with RedHat Fedora 1. Instead it always uses the squid port 3128.
I have edited apt.config to set APT to use a proxy server on port 80. Here
is a section of the edited apt.config file.
Acquire {
Retries "0";
Http {
Proxy http://10.221.17.137:80/;
}
};
APT seems to ignore the port 80 setting and connect to the squid port
3128.
Here is the TCPDUMP output:

No proxy related environment variables were set. APT worked properly on
earlier versions of RedHat, the problem seems to be new to the Fedora 1
distro.

This bug was reported to the Debian bug tracking system, while it probably
should have gone to Fedora.
At any rate, I cannot reproduce this behaviour with Debian apt. Are you
certain that you don't have the http_proxy environment variable set, or
could you be overriding this proxy setting elsewhere in the configuration
file? It seems unlikely that any version of apt is forcing port 3128.
