Package: apt Version: 0.5.24 Severity: minor Tags: sid When downloading a package that depends on fetching external URI:s (e.g. flashplugin-nonfree), apt does not use the Acquire::http variable. The result is that installing such a package will not work, since the connection will time out.
A workaround is to set the http_proxy environment variable for root to a proper value. One way to fix this is to either mention this in the documentation, or have apt-get and relatives use the Acquire::http variable for these operations as well. -- Package-specific info: -- (no /etc/apt/preferences present) -- -- (/etc/apt/sources.list present, but not submitted) -- -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.4.24-1-686 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.ISO-8859-15 Versions of packages apt depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-11 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libgcc1 1:3.3.3-4 GCC support library ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.3-4 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 -- no debconf information
